DIY Guide: Making Wax Melts
Wax melts are a simple and fun way to bring amazing scents into your home without the need for a flame. They are easy to make, customizable, and can be a great gift idea! In this guide, we will walk you through the process of making your own wax melts at home using a few basic ingredients.
Materials You'll Need:
- Wax (soy wax is recommended for a natural and clean burn)
- Fragrance oils of your choice
- Wax melt molds (silicone molds work well)
- A double boiler or microwave-safe container
- Optional: Dye chips or mica powder for coloring
Steps to Make Wax Melts:
- Melt the Wax: If using a double boiler, place your wax in the top pot and heat it gently until it melts completely. If using a microwave, place the wax in a microwave-safe container and heat in intervals, stirring in between until the wax is fully melted.
- Add Fragrance and Color: Once the wax has melted, remove it from the heat. Add your desired fragrance oil and stir well. If you want colored wax melts, now is the time to add dye chips or mica powder. Stir until fully combined.
- Pour into Molds: Carefully pour the wax mixture into your silicone molds. Be sure to fill them evenly, but leave a little space at the top.
- Let Them Set: Allow the wax to cool and solidify at room temperature. This can take a couple of hours. Once fully set, gently pop the wax melts out of the molds.
- Enjoy! Your wax melts are now ready to use. Place them in a wax warmer and let the fragrance fill your home.
